Van Gaal Urges Patience for Ten Hag at Manchester United
Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has spoken out in support of current boss Erik ten Hag.
Van Gaal believes Ten Hag deserves more time to implement his strategies at Old Trafford, despite facing questions about his future following a mixed first season. While acknowledging Ten Hag hasn’t achieved “fantastic” results, Van Gaal highlights the FA Cup win and Champions League qualification as positive signs.
“He’s winning the FA Cup, the first year also [qualifying for the] Champions League so I don’t think you have to sack him. He needs more time,” Van Gaal, who himself won the FA Cup during his time at United (2014-2016), told Sky Sports.
Van Gaal also acknowledges potential room for criticism in Ten Hag’s performance, but ultimately expresses confidence in his managerial abilities.
