Real Madrid Uncertain About Participating in Expanded Club World Cup
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has cast doubt on the club’s participation in the upcoming edition of FIFA’s Club World Cup, which is planned to be held in the United States with an expanded format featuring 32 teams.
Ancelotti, who led Real Madrid to a La Liga and Champions League double this season, reportedly feels the €20 million participation fee offered by FIFA is insufficient.
He also suggested other teams might follow suit, stating: “FIFA forgets that the teams will not participate in the new Club World Cup.”
Ancelotti’s comments highlight potential concerns among some clubs regarding the financial compensation and overall structure of the revamped tournament.
