Benin Republic coach Gernot Rohr savored his team’s historic 2-1 victory over regional rivals Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier on Monday night.
The Cheetahs overturned a one-goal deficit at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, thanks to goals from Jordel Dossou and Steve Mounie after Raphael Onyedika had put the Super Eagles ahead. “It was a fantastic result for us,” Rohr said. “This is the first time our strongest Benin side has defeated Nigeria’s A team.”
