Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has contested former Nigeria coach Finidi George’s comments regarding his commitment to the national team.
Osimhen missed the recent World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin due to injury. However, Finidi suggested the striker could have participated.
Osimhen, responding on Instagram, refuted this claim. He stated that he requested to join the team’s training camp but was advised by Finidi to focus on recovery with his family.
The 25-year-old expressed frustration at being blamed for the team’s losses, highlighting his past history of playing through injuries for Nigeria. Notably, Finidi resigned from his coaching position on Saturday.
