Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes Portugal’s Euro 2024 success could hinge on Cristiano Ronaldo adapting to a potentially reduced role. Shearer offered his insights ahead of Portugal’s match against Turkey on Saturday.
While praising Ronaldo’s work ethic and dedication, Shearer suggested a strategic shift might benefit the team.
“Ronaldo’s ability to accept a potentially shorter playing time on the pitch could be a key factor in Portugal’s journey,” he stated in an interview with BBC One.
This strategic adjustment comes as Portugal looks to build on their narrow 2-1 victory over Czech Republic in their opening Euro 2024 fixture, where Ronaldo did not find the net.
