Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk raised questions about a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decision that disallowed a potential winning goal for his team in their Euro 2024 stalemate against France on Friday.
The scoreless draw saw France struggle to create clear opportunities, while the Dutch side thought they had secured victory through a Xavi Simons strike in the 69th minute. However, the goal was chalked off by VAR.
Speaking after the match, Van Dijk expressed his disagreement with the decision. “Based on the replays I’ve seen, I don’t understand why the goal was disallowed,” he stated.
