Euro 2024: Pedri Breaks Ronaldo’s Record

Young Spanish midfielder Pedri etched his name in the history books at Euro 2024. In their Round of 16 victory against Georgia, Pedri’s appearance marked a new record for most major tournament appearances by a European player aged 21 or under (13 appearances).

This accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who made 12 appearances for Portugal before turning 22 at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup (according to beIN SPORTS).

Pedri’s impressive record doesn’t stop there. He’s also become the first player to start in four European Championship knockout stages while under 21.  This talented Barcelona star made his senior debut for Spain at the young age of 18 in March 2021.
