Ex-England defender Rio Ferdinand has thrown his weight behind William Saliba as the best defender at Euro 2024.
Saliba’s rise has been meteoric, displacing teammate Ibrahima Konate and solidifying France’s backline.
His defensive prowess is undeniable – in five matches, France hasn’t conceded a single goal from open play, with only Robert Lewandowski’s penalty in the group stages breaching their defense.
Ferdinand, impressed by Saliba’s composure, went on to say on BBC: “Those who’ve followed him this season won’t be surprised.
