Not Done Yet? Ronaldo Responds to Euro Exit, Fuels Speculation on Portugal Retirement

Despite Portugal’s disappointing Euro 2024 quarter-final exit, Cristiano Ronaldo’s social media post hints at a possible international future, sparking debate.

The 39-year-old veteran led the line for Portugal throughout the tournament, topping the charts in shots (23) but failing to find the net.  Many speculated this might be his final act with the national team.

However, on Monday, Ronaldo’s social media message (via ESPN’s Adriana Garcia) offered a different perspective: “We fell short of our goals. We deserved better…For Portugal, for you, the fans.

We’re grateful for your unwavering support and what we’ve achieved together. On and off the field, I believe this legacy will be cherished and continue to grow. Together.”

While Ronaldo’s potential return might not be universally welcomed after his Euros performance received criticism, his message leaves the door open for further international involvement.
