Copa America Final: Ex-Colombia Star Shares Strategy to Counter Messi-Led Argentina

Colombia Legend Valencia Analyzes Argentina’s Strengths and Weaknesses

Ahead of the Copa America final against Argentina, former Colombian striker Adolfo Valencia offered his insights on how his national team can approach the match.

Valencia emphasized the importance of adapting to a potentially changing Lionel Messi. “He’s not the same Messi who dribbled past six or seven players at Barcelona,” Valencia said (as per Albiceleste Talk).  “His speed and strength have naturally declined over time.”

This could present an opportunity for Colombia, according to Valencia. “It’s an advantage we can try to exploit,” he noted, while still acknowledging Messi’s immense talent. “Without taking anything away from his achievements, Messi can be marked more effectively now.”

Valencia’s comments highlight the tactical considerations Colombia might employ to counter Argentina’s attacking threat.
