Muller Announces Retirement: “Time to Say Goodbye” After Germany’s Euro Exit

Following Germany’s Euro 2024 quarter-final exit, veteran forward Thomas Muller announced his retirement from international football on Monday.

The 34-year-old Bayern Munich star made the announcement via a social media post, stating “Time to say goodbye” alongside an image of himself in the German national team kit.

Muller’s international career spanned 14 years, amassing 131 caps and contributing to 86 goals.  This includes a pivotal role in Germany’s 2014 World Cup victory, where he claimed the Golden Boot.

His final international appearance came as a substitute during the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Spain, the eventual champions.
