New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca acknowledged the potential for conceded goals while implementing his possession-based style.
Following a 2-2 draw with Wrexham in his debut match, Maresca explained, “Playing out from the back is a key part of our strategy. While it may lead to some goals conceded initially, it’s a risk we’re willing to take for long-term benefits.”
Maresca’s approach was evident in the game. Although Chelsea conceded twice due to defensive lapses, they also dominated possession, with Christopher Nkunku scoring the first goal. The Blues ultimately equalized through Lesley Ugochukwu, showcasing their attacking prowess.
