Maresca Identifies Areas for Improvement After Chelsea Humiliation
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has pinpointed defensive frailties and decision-making as key areas for improvement following his side’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to Celtic.
The Blues were outclassed by the Scottish champions in their pre-season clash, with goals from Matt O’Reilly, Kyogo Furuhashi, Luis Palma, and Mikey Johnston proving too much for the Premier League side.
While Maresca was pleased with his team’s attacking play, he admitted that defensive lapses and uncertainty in possession cost them dearly.
As Chelsea continue their pre-season preparations, the Italian coach will be looking to address these issues to ensure a successful campaign.
