Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu joins Southampton on loan
Chelsea have confirmed that young midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has joined Premier League rivals Southampton on a season-long loan deal. The announcement came on the eve of the Blues’ opening Premier League fixture against Manchester City.
The 20-year-old Frenchman, who arrived from Rennes last summer, made 15 appearances for Chelsea in his debut campaign. Despite being part of Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad during pre-season, the club has decided to loan him out to gain further experience.
Ugochukwu impressed during Chelsea’s pre-season tour, finding the net against both Wrexham and Inter Milan.
