Arteta Optimistic About Timber and Merino’s Availability
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided positive updates on the fitness of Jurrien Timber and Ben White ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Leicester City.
Timber, who did not complete the full 90 minutes against Manchester City last weekend, has returned to training and is expected to be available for selection. Arteta also expressed optimism about White’s recovery.
Regarding Takehiro Tomiyasu, Arteta stated that he is too soon to return and will be evaluated for next week. Tomiyasu has been working hard on his rehabilitation but still needs time to recover from his injury.
Overall, Arteta’s update suggests that Arsenal could have a relatively healthy squad to choose from for the Leicester City match.
“Jurien was able to take part in training today, so that’s good news,” Arteta told the media today.
“He will be available in the squad. Ben hopefully will too.”
On Merino, Arteta added: “Tomorrow is too soon, we’ll see for next week. He had partial training today, he’s been working so hard.
“It’s looking good, it’s just about the healing of the bone and how mature that is to expose him to contact.”
