Hugo Viana Set to Replace Txiki Begiristain at Manchester City
Manchester City is poised to announce the appointment of Hugo Viana as the club’s new director of football. Viana will succeed Txiki Begiristain, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Viana has signed a contract to join Manchester City starting in 2025/26. Viana is moving from Sporting CP, where he has been a successful executive.
Viana’s arrival at Manchester City coincides with the potential departure of Erling Haaland. If Haaland leaves the club, Viana has reportedly identified Viktor Gyokeres as a potential replacement. However, securing Gyokeres from Sporting CP may be challenging due to his high release clause.
Gyokeres has been in excellent form this season, scoring 12 goals in 11 matches for Sporting CP. His performances have attracted interest from several clubs, including Arsenal.
Manchester City will need to negotiate with Sporting CP to acquire Gyokeres. The club’s ability to secure the transfer will depend on various factors, including the availability of funds and Sporting CP’s willingness to sell.
