Tuchel Set to Take Charge of England in January
Thomas Tuchel has been officially appointed as the new England manager, replacing Lee Carsley on an interim basis. Tuchel, who previously managed Chelsea and Bayern Munich, will assume his new role in January 2025.
Despite his short tenure as interim manager, Lee Carsley’s chances of securing the permanent position were hampered by England’s defeat to Greece and his own uncertain comments about his suitability for the role.
While there were initial links to Pep Guardiola, the FA ultimately decided to appoint Tuchel as Gareth Southgate’s successor. Tuchel becomes the third foreign manager to lead the England men’s national team.
Although Tuchel has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich, his reputation remains strong, and he was also considered a potential candidate for the Manchester United managerial position.
However, Tuchel has chosen to take on the England job instead.
Potential England Lineup Under Tuchel
Tuchel is known for his preference for a 4-2-3-1 formation, which could be implemented with the following players:
Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford
Defense: Reece James, John Stones, Levi Colwill, Trent Alexander-Arnold Midfield: Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer
Attack: Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane
This lineup combines experienced players like Pickford, Stones, and Kane with promising young talents like Colwill, Palmer, and Gordon. Tuchel’s tactical approach and ability to get the best out of his players will be key to England’s success in the coming years.
