Spanish police have arrested four individuals suspected of inciting a racist hate campaign against Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. ahead of the recent Madrid derby.
The suspects, who were arrested on October 14 and 15, are accused of organizing a social media campaign encouraging Atletico Madrid fans to direct racist abuse towards Vinicius.
The campaign urged fans to wear masks to avoid identification.This incident is the latest in a series of racist attacks targeting the Brazilian forward. In January 2023, a racist effigy of Vinicius was hung from a bridge near Real Madrid’s training ground.
Additionally, the recent Madrid derby was marred by racist abuse and objects being thrown onto the pitch.
