Algeria Cruise Past Liberia, Mahrez Scores
Algeria cruised to a 5-1 victory over Liberia in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Riyad Mahrez, the former Manchester City star, was one of the scorers for the Algerian side.
The match was a one-sided affair, with Algeria dominating from start to finish. Despite Liberia’s early lead, Algeria quickly equalized and then took control of the game, scoring four more goals.
Mahrez, along with other experienced players like Aissa Mandi and Baghdad Bounedjah, played a key role in Algeria’s dominant performance. The victory secured Algeria’s place in the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will be hosted by Morocco.
In the other Group E match, Togo defeated Equatorial Guinea 3-0 to end their winless streak.
