Former Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim has revealed that he never considered a move to Manchester City before being approached by Manchester United.
Amorim, who took over the reins at Old Trafford following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, was linked with a potential move to City before their appointment of Pep Guardiola. However, the Portuguese manager has clarified that he was never in talks with the Manchester club.
“Never. Never heard from them and Man United was my only option,” Amorim said. “When Man Utd talked to me I had no doubts. I had already something in my mind that could be a possibility.”
Amorim’s comments shed light on the circumstances surrounding his appointment at Manchester United and his decision to join the club.
