Chelsea have recalled goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina from his loan spell at Barnsley.
According to journalist Felix Johnston, Chelsea sent a formal letter to Barnsley confirming the recall. Slonina suffered a finger injury during a recent training session and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks.
The young American goalkeeper will now return to Chelsea to continue his recovery under the guidance of the club’s medical staff. Chelsea will assess Slonina’s progress before making a decision on his future, which may include a potential return to another loan spell.
This news comes as a setback for Slonina, who had been making progress in his development at Barnsley.
